Basket Festival


OBJECTIVE: Redesign the branding for an existing festival, (in this case, a flower basket festival for a small, family-owned farm), in a way that provides the festival with its own unique visual language and style.





Intial Sketch Explorations


The themes I most wanted to incorporate were nature and community. I heavily drew from the art nouveau movement, (a movement inspired by the innate beauty of nature), for many sketches since the festival is for flower baskets out on a farm. Several sketches also included a flower motif.




Sketch Digitalization and Iteration


After selecting a route to move forward with, I sketched a cleaner and more complete version, which I then uploaded into the computer to further refine. Rather than basing it off an existing typeface, I chose to start from scratch in order to not sacrifice any details or aspects of my original design.





Final Applications


Taking the inspiration from art nouveau a step further, I developed a poster for the event which incorporates drawings of various flowers and a framing  that leans into maximalism. I also created a billboard that integrates photography and mocked up an Instagram page that uses an abbreviated wordmark for the profile picture.
